When it comes to looking after yourself, nothing is more important than finding the right health and fitness tools for you. I know there are a lot of yoga studios, instructors and resources out there and I know how difficult it can be to choose the right ones because I’ve been there too.

That’s why I want to go into more detail about who can get the greatest benefits from taking yoga and holistic therapy classes through Yogagrin® — so you can really get a feel for whether Yogagrin® is the right choice for your unique circumstances. Yoga has become increasingly popular in recent years. This has inevitably led to the development of many yoga studios that focus solely on the physical aspects of yoga. While there are no doubt benefits to practicing asanas in isolation, people who practice at such studios are missing out on the majority of the benefits of yoga.

Some yoga instructors and studios focus on more than just physical poses and instead teach students according to three of the eight limbs of yoga; they integrate physical poses with meditation and deep breathing. This gives students some guidance as to how to connect their minds and bodies but it misses out on the full suite of yoga benefits.

Yogagrin® differs from these studios because I’ve designed all our programs in accordance with all eight limbs of yoga and have incorporated Ayurvedic principles and my deep knowledge of modern science.

Ayurveda is also documented in the Vedas and is a sister science to yoga. Ayurveda is an ancient, holistic, natural health system that provides practical knowledge for self healing. The word Ayurveda translates to ‘the knowledge or wisdom or science of life’. Yoga provides the ‘what’, while Ayurveda provides the ‘how’. Like yoga, Ayurveda has been practiced by millions of people for more than 5,000 years.

Quantum physics and other modern scientific research is just beginning to prove what was already known, documented and practiced thousands of years ago through the principles of the Yogasutra and the teachings of Ayurveda.

If you choose Yogagrin®, you can experience the full range of yoga benefits and can really work towards enlightenment and holistic health because every Yogagrin® program incorporates all three of these important bodies of knowledge: the eight limbs of yoga, Ayurveda and modern science.

And that’s another thing that’s different about Yogagrin®. Our Holistic Therapy programs aren’t just about getting fit, though that is an important goal. Instead, they are educational. For example, our Wellness Program educates participants about their constitution, what can cause it to get out of balance and how to correct it naturally using knowledge of modern science, and yoga and Ayurvedic principles thereby taking a holistic approach to improving all aspects of their health.

It might surprise you to learn that some yoga instructors have only 200 hours of yoga teacher training. With so little experience, it’s hard to imagine how classes run by such undertrained instructors could possibly be effective. My classes are different because I have over 1000 hours of yoga teacher training and I’m fully committed to professional development. As an example, I’m due to complete my latest course, a Graduate Certificate of Yoga Therapy, in November 2019. I’m also a registered level 1 yoga teacher through Yoga Australia.

Another way Yogagrin® differs from other yoga providers is that instead of trying to make as much money as possible, I’m dedicated to helping you realise all the benefits of yoga. I want to help you build a better you and achieve mind-body harmony. And I want to help you overcome your physical, mental and emotional challenges.

Unlike other yoga providers, I don’t try to pack as many students as possible into my classes. Instead, Yogagrin® offers one-on-one and small-group classes with no more than eight participants per session. That way you can be confident you’ll get the attention you need to achieve your goals efficiently and, most importantly, safely.

Every Yogagrin® session can be adapted to the needs of the participants. I established Yogagrin® because I’m dedicated to empowering everyday people just like you with the knowledge and skills you need to achieve your health and wellness goals. When you come to my classes, I’ll show you how to connect your mind and body so you can feel your own energy and the energy around you and become more aware of everything you do, every moment, every day. If you’ve got a specific challenge you want to overcome, that’s what we’ll focus on during our time together. Yogagrin® doesn’t run one-size-fits-all sessions like other studios do.

Because every Yogagrin® class provides lots of individual attention, you can be sure our time together will be supportive and just right for your needs even if there’s something that might prevent you from practicing yoga at other studios. For example:

  • If you’ve got a physical or visual impairment, we’ll work together to ensure every part of our class suits your ability.
  • I have a TESOL qualification so I’m used to working with people who mostly speak a language other than English. That means, if you’re not very confident speaking and listening to English, you’ll still be able to participate in Yogagrin® classes.
  • If you’re facing really challenging circumstances, you can be sure our time together will be supportive. Maybe you’re a refugee, have PTSD or are a victim of domestic violence? I want to help you experience the benefits of yoga and I’ll put every effort into making you feel welcome, safe and comfortable. All Yogagrin® participants are lovely people so you may even find you make some lifelong friends during our classes. Yogagrin® specialises in helping people who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, acute and chronic pain and/or PTSD. If you want to alleviate or manage one or more of those conditions, then you’ll probably find Yogagrin® a great fit for your needs.

I firmly believe that yoga is one of the best ways (probably the very best way) to manage our health into old age. If you want to proactively manage your health as you age, then you’ll fit right in.

A lot of people start a fitness regime with the best of intentions. But weeks or months later they find their commitment slipping and they start falling back into old habits. I know it’s a lot easier to stick to new fitness regimes when we take a holistic approach and retrain our body and mind. Yogagrin® classes and programs are very much focussed on eight limbs of yoga and incorporate a deep knowledge of Ayurveda and modern science, which means connecting your mind and body for a holistic approach to health and fitness will be at the very core of every Yogagrin® session. If this resonates, then chances are Yogagrin® will be perfect for you.

If you’re looking for a high-energy, high-intensity workout that will really build up a sweat, then Yogagrin® isn’t going to be your best option. Yogagrin® classes are slow and gentle because I want you to be safe and have the time you need to really focus on every aspect of your yoga practice. I believe rushing through asanas and other exercises doesn’t allow enough time for students to really connect their mind and body, and it can be damaging is some cases.

If you’re a very experienced yoga practitioner, Yogagrin® may not be right for you. Yogagrin® group classes are designed for beginners and advanced beginners so you might prefer to find a studio that offers advanced group classes. Having said that, if you have an injury or particular health challenge I may be able to tailor a private class to suit your needs and level of yoga experience.

Yogagrin® classes are designed for adults. If you’re looking for yoga classes for kids, I recommend you seek out the services of a registered yoga practitioner who specialises in teaching children in a safe and engaging manner.
