Yogagrin®’s classes and programs are exceptional value for money, especially given Jan has over 1000 hours of professional yoga teacher training and is committed to continuing professional development. As such, Yogagrin® doesn’t offer concessions, but Yogagrin® does offer sponsorship for those in need. Please contact Jan to discuss your circumstances or to make a donation to support someone else in need.
Face-to-face classes generally run in Sandgate, Australia from around March to November each year. The timetable page lists the times of each group class. But if you can’t make any of those times, feel free to find out more about our personalised holistic health packages.
Online sessions run throughout the year for individuals who are unable to attend face to face. Feel free to find out more about our online sessions.
Special, group classes can be organised in other parts of Australia and overseas depending on demand and by mutual agreement. Feel free to find out more about our customised group packages.
Yogagrin®’s classes and programs are gentle and can be adapted to the needs of every participant. If you have an injury or illness, please advise the teacher before attending a class. Alternatively, you can book a Holistic Therapy program that can be designed around your specific needs or health concerns. Always consult your doctor before commencing any new exercise program, especially if you have an injury or other health challenge.
Yogagrin® classes and programs are designed for beginners and advanced beginners. If you’re an expert yoga practitioner, you’ll probably find the standard classes aren’t quite challenging enough for you. However, if you have an injury or other health issue, a private Holistic Therapy program can be tailored to meet your needs and level of yoga experience. Please contact Jan if you’d like to discuss your circumstances and explore whether a Holistic Therapy program might be right for you.
Yogagrin® classes are low impact, appropriately challenging and gentle. If you’re looking for a high-energy, high-intensity workout, then Yogagrin® yoga may not be the best solution for you.
Absolutely! Two of the many benefits of yoga are increased flexibility and fitness, but you don’t need to be flexible or fit to get started. Read more about yoga and its benefits.
Face-to-face classes are held in Sandgate, Queensland. The exact location varies depending on the class so please check the timetable page for the location of group classes.
If you’re looking for a private, one-on-one class, Jan can come to your home or we can choose another location that works for you. Feel free to find out more about our personalised holistic therapy packages.
Yogagrin® will soon be offering online and phone classes. Sign up to our mailing list to be one of the first to know when this service becomes available.
Yogagrin® ‘s general yoga classes are held weekly, and incorporate a combination of still and moving postures suitable for beginners and advanced beginners. Each class starts with a gentle warm up and ends with a short relaxation. You will be guided slowly through a sequence of asanas (poses), and given different options that can be adapted to your needs. We will work together to help you become the best you can be using yogic principles. You will be in control so you do only what feels right for you. These classes are a great adjunct to our Holistic Therapy programs.
Yogagrin®’s group Holistic Therapy programs are a suite of yoga therapy lessons and resources designed to educate participants and help them with a particular health challenge.
We also offer Holistic Therapy packages to individuals who do not like, or are unable to attend group classes. During a personalised Holistic Therapy program, we’ll work together to help you achieve your physical, psychological or emotional goals in a holistic fashion using not only yoga and yoga therapy principles but also knowledge of modern medicine and Ayurveda. You will be empowered to manage your own health and well being long term.
Yogagrin® will also customise a holistic health package to meet the needs of a specific group of people, such as workplace stress management, and physical health rehabilitation. Contact us for more information about our customised group packages.
Yogagrin® welcomes people from all walks of life.
If you have a visual impairment, reduced mobility or another physical impairment, your classes will be tailored to your needs. For example, you can sit on a chair or in a wheelchair during class, or stand next to a wall.
If English isn’t your first language, you can absolutely take a class. Jan has lots of experience teaching English as a second language (TESOL) and communicating with people just like you.
If you’re a refugee or have another challenging background, you’ll find our classes are welcoming and supportive.
Please contact Jan if you’d like to discuss your circumstances and explore whether yoga and Yogagrin® are right for you.
Booking and Payment Information
Yogagrin® sessions can book out fast. So, to avoid disappointment, please book your preferred session or sessions in advance. If you turn up for a session without having paid or made a booking, preference will be given to those who have prepaid so you may find the session is full.
You can choose and book your session from the Home Page.
Your booking will be confirmed once your payment has been received.
There are lots of ways you can pay for your Yogagrin® sessions.
Pay in advance
The best way to secure your booking is by paying in advance. You can choose any of the following payment methods:
- Bank transfer
- Credit card or debit card (you can make your card payment using PayPal — you don’t need a PayPal account to do this)
If you attend a Yogagrin® session and decide to book in for additional sessions, you can also prepay in cash there and then.
Pay in person
Alternatively, you can book first and pay in cash for a single class on your scheduled day, or you can pay for a multi-class pass at your first class.
As bookings are only secured when payment is received, please note that preference will be given to customers that have pre-paid for a session. So, to avoid disappointment, your best option is to prepay using one of the above payment methods.
Yogagrin® is now offering sponsorship to those in need. A portion of every pass purchased will go towards subsidising classes for someone in financial difficulty.
If you would like to apply for sponsorship, please contact Jan with a brief summary of your circumstances. Your personal information will remain strictly confidential.
Sponsorship is offered at the discretion of the Principal.
In general, Yogagrin® doesn’t offer refunds once sessions have been paid for.
If you purchase a multi-class pass and you can’t attend a session you’ve booked, you can reschedule to another session that’s within your pass timeframe. For example, 5-class passes are valid for 8 weeks so you can book in for a replacement session any time before your pass expires. If you need to reschedule a class, please contact Jan as soon as possible so your place can be offered to someone else.
Refunds may be offered in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Yogagrin®’s Principal.
General class information
At every Yogagrin® session you can expect to have fun, enjoy yourself and leave feeling good.
New to Yoga? Don’t worry, everyone was new to yoga at some point, including me. You’ll find some things come naturally to you while others may feel a little strange or even uncomfortable.
Allow yourself to have these different feelings and emotions but try not to get caught up in them. Understand that it’s taken many years for your body and mind to get where it is today so doing something different may take some getting used to. Have confidence in yourself and know that you will soon see positive change. It just takes time and regular practice. Be kind to and patient with yourself. Enjoy your journey and the whole experience.
If you are unsure of anything, please ask. The only silly question is the one you didn’t ask
Yoga practitioners are friendly people, so you are likely to make new friends along the way
All classes involve some form of body movement so it is best to wear clothing that will allow you to move freely without causing yourself or others embarrassment.
When practicing yoga we want to feel our connection with the earth, so we generally don’t wear shoes or socks, but it’s ok to leave them on if you need to. When it’s cool, you may be more comfortable wearing socks during Savasana (relaxation/meditation).
- A yoga mat (if you don’t have one you can borrow one of our spares until you purchase your own)
- A bottle of water (especially in warm weather)
- Warm clothing to keep yourself comfortable during the relaxation parts of winter sessions
If you’re new to Yogagrin®, please fill in this registration form and bring it along with you to your first class.
- Don’t eat a meal for at least 2 hours before your yoga session.
- Everyone coming to yoga is taking a break from technology, so please remember to switch off your mobile phone before every session.
- It’s best to arrive at least 10 minutes ahead of your session time to register and settle in. Please do not arrive late as this will disrupt the session.
